Refit defines a shipyard period and the overall project framework. Modernization (retrofit), by contrast, is a targeted technical intervention added after the yacht’s original construction. Although it may appear to be the purchase of a single device, the actual workload includes access routes, structural supports, power management, piping and software integration.

Rebuild Threshold

When does a rebuild begin?

If the project changes the yacht’s structural geometry, involves major layout changes, relocates the main engines or requires an extensive engineering and class/approval route, it is no longer simply a refit or modernization and must be managed under rebuild discipline.
